We are a group of Indian citizens who believe in securing rightful representation of all sections of people in the electoral process through voting, irrespective of their place of temporary residence. We proudly call ourselves Voters Without Borders!

As a first step towards achieving this goal, an online petition has been prepared addressing the concerned ministries athttp://www.PetitionOnline.com/abvindia/ . We host the current web page to post all necessary information and updates.

We have received enthusiastic support and encouragement to the petition from hundreds of people spread across the globe. Our stretch goal is to get at least about 10,000 signatures which would by itself be a substantive representation of people’s aspirations thus lending a powerful voice to this message. We eventually would pass this mandate on to the Ministry of Parliamentary affairs and Ministry of Overseas Affairs- Government of India. We also would want to take this message to the various Indian embassies  present here in the US.

Our larger goal is push for ‘good politics’ and ‘good governance’ through active participation of people. We believe that we can achieve this objective if we involve more people in the election process. Through this we hope to elect leaders who possess the vision, will and capacity to govern our nation.  Choosing the right leaders also ensures better policies for the greater good of the people. Such participatory democracy can be achieved when people

(a) Cast an informed vote without fail in both Assembly and Lok Sabha elections

(b) Hold elected officials accountable to their office

(c) Push for development through campaigns and media

(d) Involve in policy making process through public discourse
